Constitution (Jammu and Kashmir) Scheduled Castes Order, 1956.

1 THECONSTITUTION (JAMMU AND KASHMIR) SCHEDULED CASTES ORDER, 1956

In exercise of the powersconferred by clause (1) of article 341 of the Constitution of India, thePresident, after consultation with the Sadar-i-Riyasat of Jammu and Kashmir, ispleased to make the following Order,namely:--

1. ThisOrder may be called the Constitution (Jammu and Kashmir) Scheduled CastesOrder, 1956.2

2. The castes specified inthe Schedule to this Ordershall, for the purposes of the Constitution, be deemed to be ScheduledCastes in relation to the State of Jammu and Kashmir:

Provided that no person whoprofesses a religion different from the Hindu or the Sikh religion shall be deemed to be a member of a Scheduled Caste.

THE SCHEDULE

1. Barwala.

2. Basith.

3. Batwal.

4. Chamar or Ramdasia.

5. Gaza.

6. Dhyar.

7. Doom or Mahasha.

8. Gardi.

9. Jolaha.

10. Megh or Kabirpanthi.

11. Ratal.

12. Saryara.

13.Watal.
