Auditor of Indian Home Accounts.

1 [170. Auditor of Indian HomeAccounts

(1) There shall be an Auditor of Indian HomeAccounts who shall be appointed by the Governor-General in his discretion andshall only be removed from office in like manner and on the like grounds as ajudge ofthe Federal Court.

(2) The conditions of service of the Auditor ofIndian Home Accounts shall be such as may be prescribed by the Governor-Generalin his discretion:

Provided that neither the salary of an Auditorof Indian Home Accounts nor his rights in respect of leave of absence, pensionor age of retirement shall be varied to his disadvantage after his appointment.

(3) The Auditor of Indian Home Accounts shallperform such duties and exercise such powers in relation to transactions in theUnited Kingdom affecting the revenues of the Federation, of the Federal RailwayAuthority, or of any Province, as may be prescribed by, or by rules made under,an Order of His Majesty in Council, or by any Act of the Federal Legislaturevarying or extending such an Order:

Provided that no Bill or amendment for thepurpose aforesaid shall be introduced or moved without the prior sanction of theGovernor-General in his discretion:

(4) The reports of the Auditor of Indian HomeAccounts relating to such transactions as aforesaid shall be submitted to theAuditor-General of India, or, in the case of transactions affecting the revenuesof a Province which has an Auditor-General, to the Auditor-General of theProvince, and shall be included by any such Auditor-General in the reports whichunder this Part of this Act he is required to submit to the Governor-General or,as the case may be, to the Governor.

(5) The Auditor of Indian Home Accounts shallbe subject to the general superintendence of the Auditor-General of India.

(6) The salary, allowances and pension payableto or in respect of the Auditor of Indian Home Accounts shall be charged on therevenues of the Federation, and the salaris, allowances and pensions payable toor in respect of members of his staff shall be paid out of those revenues.

(7) His Majesty in Council may require theAuditor of Indian Home Accounts to perform in relation to Burma all or any ofthe functions which he performs in relation to India, and may fix the paymentsto be made inrespect of his services from the revenues of Burma to the revenuesofthe Federation, any may make such incidental and consequential provision asmayappear to him to be proper.
