Fourth Schedule.

FOURTH SCHEDULE

(Sections 24, 67, 200 & 220.)

FORMS OF OATHS OR AFFIRMATIONS.

Form of oath or affirmation to be taken or made by a member of a Legislature who is a British subject:--

I, A.B., having been elected [or nominated or appointed] a member of this Council [or Assembly], do solemnly swear [or affirm] that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty the King, Emperor of India, His heirs and successors, and that I will faithfully discharge the duty upon which I am about to enter."

Form of oath or affirmation to be taken or made by a member of a Legislature who is the Ruler of an Indian State:--

"I, A.B., having been elected [or nominated or appointed] a member of this Council [or Assembly], do solemnly swear [or affirm] that I will be faithful and, bear true allegiance in my capacity as Member of this Council [or Assembly] to His Majesty the King, Emperor of India, His heirs and successors, and that I will faithfully discharge the duty upon which I am about to enter."

Form of oath or affirmation to be taken or made by a member of a Legislature who is a subject of the Ruler of an Indian State:-- "I, A.B., having been selected [or nominated or appointed] a member of this Council [or Assembly]; do solemnly swear [or affirm] that saving the faith and allegiance which I owe to C.D., his heirs and successors, I will be faithful and bear true allegiance in my capacity as Member of this Council [or Assembly] to His Majesty the King, Emperor of India, His heirs and successors, and that I will faithfully discharge the duty upon which I am about to enter."

Form of judicial oath or affirmation to be taken or made by a British subject:-- "I, A.B., having been appointed Chief Justice [or a judge] of the Court do solemnly swear [or affirm] that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty the King, Emperor of India, His heirs and successors and that I will faithfully perform the duties of my office to the best of my ability, knowledge and judgment."

Form of judicial oath or affirmation to be taken or made by a subject of the Ruler of an Indian State:--

"I, A.B., having been appointed Chief Justice [or a judge] of the Court do solemnly swear [or affirm] that saving the faith and allegiance which I owe to C.D., his heirs and successors, I will be faithful and bear true allegiance in my judicial capacity to His Majesty the King, Emperor of India, His heirs and successors, and that I will faithfully perform, the duties of my office to the bests of my ability, knowledge and judgment."
